The patriotism of the 21st century must have a global dimension Tusk said, addressing conflict between patriotism and globalism.
European Union President, Donald Tusk, in his final address at the United Nations general assembly, disagreed with the ideology that suggests a conflict between patriotism and globalism. The EU President said that this opinion is false and dangerous.
According to Tusk, the United Nations and the European Union, share a common ground in the attempt to overcome such thinking. Donald Tusk, further posited that, the patriotism of the 21st Century must also have a global dimension if it is not to become ‘a common national egoism.’ The rights of every individual, be it a citizen or a non-citizen of a particular country must be defended in that country, he asserted.
