The high-level meeting comes as Washington and Beijing seek to manage tensions in their relationship
Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Washington for a three-day state visit hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump, marking the first visit by a Chinese leader to the U.S. capital in more than a decade.
Trump is personally greeting Xi at Joint Base Andrews, in a rare diplomatic gesture ahead of a formal state ceremony and White House dinner. The high-level meeting comes as Washington and Beijing seek to manage tensions in their relationship. Trump and Xi are expected to discuss trade and tariffs, rare-earth supplies, artificial intelligence, advanced technology and Taiwan, alongside broader economic and strategic relations.
The September 23–25 visit follows months of efforts to maintain a fragile trade truce between the two economic powers, with both sides seeking greater stability while differences remain over technology, trade and regional security.
