Over 600,000 workers out of jobs
The Office of National Statistics in the United Kingdom has released reports from March and May officially showing that the number of paid employees fell by 2% since the nation entered effective hibernation in March. The office recorded a rise of 528,000 or 23% in the previous month to 2.8million. The figures have shown to be green for the government which has been on the furlough program for workers by paying wages to them since the time of the Coronavirus pandemic.
