Protesters say they cannot find the word ‘Dead’ in the Legislative Council
Thousands of protesters took to the streets to protest against the formal declaration made by the Chief Executive of Hong Kong that the controversial extradition bill is now dead.
According to the Chief Executive, Carrie Lam because of the grievances and confrontations, she has put a stop to the amendment process of the bill which if implemented would allow some suspects to be sent to mainland China for trial. Lam acknowledged that there were lingering doubts about the government’s sincerity whether it would seek to bring the legislation back for a vote which she concluded by saying there are no such plans that the bill is dead.
Amidst this declaration, opponents remain firm in their disposition and demands on the bill citing that they could not find the word dead in any of the laws in Hong Kong or any legal proceedings in the legislative council.
