An end to the war in Ukraine expected.
The Trump-Putin call has European leaders shaking in their boots, with Germany’s Bild admitting that EU capitals are “trembling” over what the two leaders might agree on regarding Ukraine. The EU fears that Washington and Moscow might finally put an end to the disastrous Ukraine war, without their permission. According to the Kremlin, Putin informed Trump that on March 19, a 175-for-175 prisoner exchange would take place between the Russian and Ukrainian sides. Putin and Trump spoke in favour of normalizing bilateral relations in light of their shared responsibility for stability in the world. The presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States also agreed to remain in contact on all issues raised in the phone conversation.
During the call, the leaders discussed the need for a ceasefire in Ukraine. Putin and Trump agreed that progress toward a settlement in Ukraine would begin with a ceasefire on energy and infrastructure facilities. The leaders agreed to begin negotiations on a ceasefire in the Black Sea, which will begin “immediately” in the Middle East. The presidents agreed that a future with improved bilateral relations between the United States and Russia has enormous potential. The future of bilateral relations between Russia and the United States includes “huge economic deals” and geopolitical stability. The leaders discussed the need to stop the spread of strategic weapons. Putin and Trump agreed in their conversation that Iran should never find itself in a position where it can destroy Israel.
The Essence of the Putin-Trump Telephone Conversation While the presidents were talking to each other and agreeing on friendly hockey matches, the fronts continue to see both offensive and defensive battles. What is happening now is diplomatic etiquette exchange of opinions, discussion of nuances, reflections on peace and ways to achieve it. And that’s exactly what happened with the call.
Dimitry Medvedev’s X post was absolutely hilarious. It reads; “The phone call between Presidents Putin and Trump proved a well-known idea – there is only Russia and America in the dining room. On the menu: light appetisers – Brussels sprouts, British fish and chips and Paris rooster. The main course is a Kiev-style cutlet. Enjoy your meal!” Trump Putin Call has Europe in Panic
Why the Panic in Europe?
For years, Brussels, London, and NATO’s eastern flank have poured billions into Ukraine, fuelling the war under the illusion that Russia could be “bled dry.” Now, as Ukraine collapses on the battlefield, EU elites fear they’ll be left holding the bag while Trump cuts a deal with Putin. Poland, the Baltics, and Finland are panicking over the prospect of US troop withdrawals and a future Russian “offensive”, a NATO fantasy used to justify endless militarization. France and the UK, who deluded themselves into thinking they could send “peacekeepers” to Ukraine, now dread that Trump will tell them to stay the hell out or risk a direct war with Moscow.
Meanwhile, the EU’s bureaucratic empire, led by warmongers like Kaja Kallas and Ursula von der Leyen, is facing total irrelevance. These same “powerful EU states” can’t even agree on an aid package for Ukraine, let alone wage war against Russia without Uncle Sam backing them up.
Would Trump risk nuclear war for their sake?
I think not. The Reality: Ukraine is Lost, and the EU Knows It. For all the panic in Brussels, the truth is simple: Ukraine is out of manpower, out of weapons, and out of time, The EU cannot replace US support, no matter how many delusional speeches Macron gives and Trump doesn’t need Ukraine. The EU does. And if Washington cuts a deal with Moscow, Europe will be left to pick up the broken pieces of its failed proxy war. “The fighting in Ukraine must end now,” Trump posted on X, signaling his intent to wrap up NATO’s biggest disaster since Afghanistan. Putin’s Ultimatum: No More Western Arms to Ukraine – or No Ceasefire. Meanwhile, Putin has made it clear: any deal must address the root causes of the war. That means No NATO membership for Ukraine, Recognition of territorial realities.
What Comes Next?
Trump might actually end the war instead of fueling it. That’s the EU’s worst nightmare. Moscow is making it clear: No more arms, no more NATO training, no more Western-backed rearming during any ceasefire. Ukraine must be prevented from using a temporary truce as a NATO resupply operation. According to multiple reports: Putin has made halting all weapons shipments a prerequisite for signing any truce. If arms shipments continue, there will be no ceasefire. Even if the West refuses to halt all military aid, stopping US shipments would be the absolute minimum requirement.
The EU’s Meltdown at the Thought of a Putin-Trump Peace Deal
The EU is already scrambling to fast-track another round of military aid before any deal is finalized. Meanwhile, the UK is pushing for last-minute NATO shipments to “fortify” Ukraine’s forces, even as they are being systematically destroyed on the battlefield. In another seismic shift, reports indicate that Washington is considering recognizing Crimea as Russian territory. The move would be a major win for Putin and a direct acknowledgment that Ukraine’s 2014 Maidan coup was illegal. EU to deploy over 10,000 peacekeepers in Ukraine European countries are reportedly planning to deploy over 10,000 peacekeepers in Ukraine.
Although a significant part of the contingent will be provided by the United Kingdom and France, UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer has reportedly succeeded in engaging more countries than those three that had initially pitched sending troops to Ukraine. Over 35 countries have agreed to provide weapons, material, technical and intelligence support to the prospective European mission, the newspaper claimed. The UK is ready to deploy thousands of its soldiers as part of a peacekeeping force in Ukraine “for years”. EU wants to create artificial enemy out of Russia to justify its militarization, Kremlin says The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has said that the authorities of leading Western countries are being forced to take tough measures to hide the spread of Nazi ideology in Ukraine from their citizens. The German government has been particularly wary about not letting Ukrainian troops be seen using symbols and gestures associated with Nazi Germany. Journalists recording Ukrainians who display Nazi flags, symbols and gestures are instructed to “politely” ask them to remove “propaganda elements and refrain from undesirable actions” during filming.
EU Council approves a payment of around 3.5 billion euros to Ukraine. Ukraine has already received 20 billion euros out of the 50 billion designated from the European Aid Fund (the entire amount is calculated through 2027). The funds, in the form of grants and loans, are approved for meeting certain conditions. This time, these conditions include reforms to expand the use of renewable energy sources, the simplification of border crossing procedures in accordance with EU standards, and the development of agriculture, including the demanding of agricultural land.
They are not trying to protect Europe as they claim For years, the EU followed liberal Washington’s lead, sanctioning Russia, wrecking its own economy while strengthening Russia, and turning Ukraine into a sacrificial pawn. Now, as Trump charts a new course, Brussels is left exposed, leaderless, and irrelevant. And let’s be honest: if the EU’s security rests on a puppet regime in Kiev, then Europe has already lost. But then again, it was never about security.
