Meeting was successful despite technical challenges
Five weeks into the national lockdown in the United Kingdom due to the Corona Virus pandemic, the United Kingdom parliament has held its first virtual meeting on the 22nd of April 2020. Less than 50 members of parliament were allowed into the hall for the debate while others connected online. The virtual meeting was deemed successful though several parliamentarians had difficulties with audio connection and some others were completely unable to connect.
The lawmakers will sit Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with the first two hours dedicated to taking of questions from ministerial statements. It would be recalled that the parliament went on an extended Easter break where citizens were asked to stay at home with businesses suffering grave losses all over the nation.
