Nigerian Stakeholders Deliberate on Annual Budget for 2019

2019 fiscal year budget estimated at N8.827 trillion

Just before the end of the tenure of the current National Assembly, stakeholders comprising of the National Economic Team, the leadership of the National Assembly and a cross section of the general public have converged to deliberate on the budget for the 2019 fiscal year, the budget is currently estimated at N8.827 trillion. In his address, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara cited that the public hearing was aimed at ensuring active participation of the general public. The Speaker explained that though the President has the power to initiate the budget proposal, but the National Assembly maintains the power to appropriate.
