Former Sports Minister Under Investigation Over Holiday Spent in Dubai
The South African former Sports Minister, Fikile Mbalula has been listed in the investigation list of the public protector, Busiswe Mkhwebane. The public protector confirmed that findings of her investigation into former sports minister’s holiday to Dubai would be released in her next briefing by the end of this month.
Reports say that that Mbalula, his wife and three children departed from Johannesburg on 28 December 2016 and returned on 3 January 2017. The family stayed at the Atlantis, The Palm Hotel in Dubai, developed by Sol Kerzner’s Kerzner International Holdings and internationally acclaimed for its Atlantis-themed waterpark. The entire holiday package including return affairs cost about R680,000.
