INEC urges Nigerian Police and other security agencies to adhere to the provisions of the electoral act
Determined to conduct free and credible elections in the 2019 polls, Nigeria's electoral body, INEC, has called on the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to adhere strictly to the provisions of the electoral act. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in its charge cautioned the security agencies to avoid any action that will give Nigerians the impression that the agencies have their separate security arrangements aside those sanctioned by the commission. This charge came from INEC boss Mahmood Yakubu, at the opening of the regular quarterly consultative meeting of the inter-agency consultative committee on election security. Mahmood Yakubu, also used the opportunity to brief the media and clarify INEC's plans for the general election as against mere public speculations.
