Russia Pulled Out Following Similar Action by the US
The President of Russia, President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree pulling Russia out of the participation in a key cold war era nuclear arms control agreement with the United States. Russia’s decision to pull out according to the President is as a result of similar action taken by the United States. President Donald Trump of the United States had earlier pulled out of the movement accusing Russia of violating the 1987 INF treaty and therefore launched a six-month process of withdrawal from the pact. Meanwhile the Secretary-General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg has said that the organization does not want a new cold war and has therefore urged Russia come back into compliance with the INF treaty.
