Alberta Premier, Jason Kenny announces at a news conference.
Canada’s Province, Alberta, has scrapped its vaccine passport mandates. This was announced by Premier, Jason Kenny at a news conference. Mr. Kenny also said the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP) which was implemented to increase “vaccination rates” will no longer be of any effect going forward.
His decision is consequent on the alarming number of vaccinated people who still contracted the omicron variant of COVID-19. He added that he is not convinced that the program can be of any useful purpose unless someone changes the definition of “fully vaccinated” to three or more vaccines.
His decision to scrap vaccine passports was approved by his government’s Covid19 cabinet committee that day.
