Nigerian Senate approves and pass national minimum wage bill into law
The proposed national minimum wage of 30,000 naira in Nigeria has been approved by members of the upper chamber of Nigeria's national assembly and passed into law. Chairman of the adhoc committee on national minimum wage, Senator Francis Alimikhena, earlier presented the national minimum wage bill 2019, to lawmakers which went through first, second and third readings on the floor of the house before being passed into law. The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, commended the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) for the peaceful and responsible approach employed in pushing for and ensuring the government met its demands.
