Eskom Announced its Plans to Build two Power Plants
The former President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki has apologized to South Africans and Eskom for the government’s inability to accept the warning given by Eskom in 1996 on the increase in demand of the plants. Eskom on their own part has announced it's plans to build two major coal power plants both in Medupi and Kusile, but the cost of these plants has more than doubled and accomplishment dates are moved back. In providing answers to questions thrown by members of the Parliaments Finance Committee, Eskom made it clear that there is still a lot of uncertainty about just how much financial support Eskom will need.
