Over 180 Christian leaders demand for end of 'ban rule'
Religious leaders from different denominations in Texas are demanding for an end of 'ban rule' preventing chaplains from ministering to inmates in the state. The rule which was implemented by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in April is currently barring chaplains from entering prison execution chambers to minister to condemned inmates.
According to the statement, more than 180 clergies are insisting that Texas drop the ban, stating that the significance of the physical presence of a chaplain at a condemned person’s last moment is difficult to overstate.
