US Court Declares Former Somali Military Commander Guilty of Torture

One of his victims awarded damages to the tune of 1.5 million dollars

A United States of America court has found former Somali military commander, guilty of torture. In the ruling, one of the commander's victims, a Somali herder, was awarded damages to the tune of 1.5 million dollars. A US based group called the Center for Justice and Accountability (CJA) that represented Farhan Warfaa, disclosed that the Virginia jury on Tuesday found that Col. Yusuf Abdi Ali tortured their client as far back 1987. The victim, Farhan Warfaa, described the court's verdict as a vindication of all he suffered along with other victims in present day Somali land in the hands of the culprit, Col. Yusuf Abdi Ali.
