The United Kingdom government has launched a scheme allowing British citizens and residents to house and sponsor Ukrainians who are fleeing the Russian invasion as it steps up, its efforts to deflect anger over its response to the refugee crisis. Britain will pay or repay people £350 a month if they can offer refugees, a spare room or property for a minimum period of six months.
