The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the postponement of the African Cup of Nations to 2022. The decision was reached after the executive committee of the board met via a video conference. It would be recalled that AFCON was scheduled to take place in Cameroon in 2021, but the decision for postponement was unanimously taken due to the Coronavirus pandemic that plagued nations of the world. In another development, the football governing body has also announced the cancellation of the 2020 African Women Cup of Nations which was scheduled to hold from November to December 2020. The 2020 CAF Awards has also been canceled.
