Gates Foundation was excluded from the latest list of charitable organisations set to receive billions of dollars in Berkshire Hathaway stock.
Warren Buffett has ended his long-standing financial support for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, following renewed scrutiny of Bill Gates’ past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Buffett had committed in 2006 to donate Berkshire Hathaway shares to the foundation annually during his lifetime and has contributed about $47 billion over two decades. However, the Gates Foundation was excluded from the latest list of charitable organisations set to receive billions of dollars in Berkshire Hathaway stock.
The 95-year-old billionaire said his remaining shares will instead be distributed among four foundations connected to his family, with the donations expected to be completed by the end of 2034.
There are speculations that Warren's decision to end donations to the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is predicated on Bill Gates association with Epstein as the billionaire previously revealed that he had not spoken to Gates since details of the association emerged.
