UN Rights Boss calls for the International Community's involvement in Khashoggi's Inquiry
United Nations human rights Agency through its boss, Michelle Bachelet, on Tuesday called for international experts to be involved in an independent investigation into the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was last seen entering the Saudi Consulate in Instabul on the 2nd of October.
Michelle asked the experts to carryout their investigations with access to evidence and witnesses.
In a statement, Bachelet also urged Saudi Arabia to reveal the where abouts of Khashoggi's body, saying that a forensic examination and autopsy were crucial elements in an investigation into the "shockingly brazen crime" carried out in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
Bachelet stated that the need for international experts involvement is most necessary in a case like this because high-level government officials are implicated in the killing. If the investigation is left for Saudi Arabia alone, there may likely be diplomatic and political considerations in a case like this as Khashoggi was a critique of the government.
