Trump Administration Directs Nearly $2 Billion to Faith-Based Groups for Global Aid

The administration believes that faith-based groups can effectively reach vulnerable communities.

The Trump administration has announced nearly $2 billion in U.S. health and humanitarian assistance for faith-based and community organizations working overseas, including major Christian groups such as World Vision, Compassion International and Samaritan’s Purse.

About $1.4 billion will support the administration’s global health strategy, including approximately 2,500 faith-based hospitals and clinics and community health workers, while another $570 million will support faith- and community-based health facilities through agreements with foreign governments.

The move follows a major restructuring of U.S. foreign aid and the planned dismantling of USAID. The administration believes that faith-based groups can effectively reach vulnerable communities.
