Citizens Troop to bank premises in large numbers as businesses begin to reopen.
The Nigerian government has begun the gradual ease of lockdown restrictions in states and cities most hit by the pandemic, such as Lagos, the commercial nerve of the nation. As expected in many parts of the city of Lagos, large number of individuals took out to the streets to return to their businesses. Banks were not left out as long queues were seen at some of the entrance points to most banks. It would be recalled that the Nigerian government had earlier on called for a total lockdown of Lagos state, neighboring Ogun State and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja due to the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus in these regions. After a period of 5 weeks, the government authorized the gradual ease of lockdown in phases.
